Perry is born July 25, 1968 in Chicago In Illinois, she was the child of Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. The character Jackie Harris was played by her mother in both the two episodes she appeared on Roseanne. Her parents did not allow her to start acting in front of her family until she reached adulthood, as they feared the strain it might create. Perry was shy in high-school and was not a performer. She began acting in the year 2000 at Northwestern University to gain friends after she was moved from Boston University. Perry was a graduate of Boston University, moved in New York in search of television roles. She landed small parts on shows such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Then, homelessness led her to California to find theater work. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother on Broadway in 2013 The show featured their father Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in 2015 at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry played a role in 9 episodes of the ABC thriller The Family in 2016. Her father played her on The ABC Drama Scandal. The actress also portrayed in the role of a older Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon - an CBS spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. The character was chosen through an audition, even though she had a close association with it.
